Note: Disc three has the perfect amount of space left to include Ray White's Talking Shoes opening set, which included sit-ins from two Umphrey's members. Ray is not 'archive-friendly' so you'll have to track my recording down some other way. The complete tracking would end with:

Subject: Decent Quality, Great Show
Saw this show back when I was 17 years old. Flipped out during the Bell Bottom Blues. If its worth anything now almost 6 years later, are JO2 and Resolution titles mixed up?

Subject: style
i dont know if it really makes sense to say they have no style, i mean if they didnt have style then what r they doing on stage? jakin off? ums rocks again, see them live and it will change ur mind

Subject: unique and creative show, mediocre sound quality
great performance, some really different and creative stuff here. the sound quality leaves much to be desired. the whole mid to high end is extremely muddy, especially the vocals and keys and some elements of the guitar. none the less not a bad recording. i am just an audiophile and i do not find the recording to be as high quality as some of the reviews have made it seem.

This is just straight up bad ass! That's all I have to say.

Thanks for the compliments folks. I did contact Archive management and confirmed that it was *NOT* ok to include Ray White's set with the UM show. Unfortunately Ray doesn't appear to have an official presence on the web to contact him to obtain permission. If anyone knows him, please get him in touch with the archive curators!

Currently there is a torrent running here for the Talking Shoes set:
No guarantees how long it'll be available...

Let's give a big standing ovation to Browning who made the Pageant sound decent for once. Kudos! Thanks again to Umphrey's for allowing taping, and for blowing my mind this Friday night.

I don't understand how someone could say The mighty Umphreys have no style.
The way they play music is unprecedented. I listen to all styles of music and umphstyle is the best. Its a variety of different styles, mainly good ol' rock played at fuckin hyperspeed. the only band that can create a song with words through improv on stage(jimmy stew). Im sorry for disagreeing.

By the way great fucking show and sound quality as usual. it's hard to find a UM show with bad sound quality.

Umphreys are ever evolving. I fell in love with them the first time I heard them and they simply amaze me. This show rocks..great taping. These kids can play their asses off and I for one appreciate all the music! \m/

A classic example of when you buy a ticket to the UM show, you're essentially signing over control of your mind for a few hours; check out the end of Dump City, at the very last crisp note, you can hear the ENTIRE audience participate in a giant inhalation of breath and then all deflate as they start cheering all at once. Other highlights for me include the Bright Lights jam > JO > Revolution, Der Bluten Mushroom, and the Ringo with the talking Stewart; one off for the subsuperb setlist and that the DBM rambled a teense long for my taste (btw, these notes are for my own use when this show comes back up again, your mileage may vary)

Absolutely stellar recording though, especially for a nonmatrix aud, everything is crispy and clear - and again, viva UM radio, allowing me to tune in when I can't be there in person - thank you tapers!

Also, Ray White was a member of archive-friendly bands KVHW and Big E; did anybody actually ask him for permission to throw his Talking Shoes sets up here? or was that a guess - what's the deal there - I would also hope that UM's pro-archive position might rub off on the bands they interact with on their travels.

Umphrey's plays music well. That is all there is to say. Their versatility is unparalleled by any other musical ensemble, and that is what makes their style unique. Great taping, and great show. I have yet to listen to an Umphrey's show that has any lacking element. NOT a "jamband," but a dynamc, progressive variety band.

Subject: they're just alright
ok these guys are alright my first star rating as a 1 wasnt cool so I will bump it up to a 4 but that isnt easy for me to do. But I will still say these guys have talent but absoluely no style what so ever. So I will base this review of the recording quality only and I say the recording sounds good like the band or not you gotta give the taper credit espically being the only one.

Subject: Got some balls man...
Please don't come on to the reviews to initiate arguments with people man. You are not someone to tell others they can't like a band for whatever reason they like the band.

- "But I will still say these guys have talent but absoluely no style what so ever"

One thing I always belived about Umphrey's is that they are "untouchable." They can cover a song and do more than justice to it, but not many bands woulc be able to do that with some of Umphrey's songs that they ROCK on the stage. I find it hard to believe that someone who listened to them for more than five minutes wouldn't understand something about them. Take some more time to listen to the music and less "reviewing" them. Please.

Subject: Great recording
I was sitting next to the person who did this recording right in front of the soundboard, he did an excellent job capturing this show.

This is a pretty jammy show, and has alot of great highlights.

Thx for the upload

would love to get the Talking Shoes set,
where can we find it

Reviewer: GrimGrumTheGnome - - October 5, 2005
Subject: cancelling out needless reviews
i honestly haven't even listened to this show yet, i'm simply giving it 5 stars to cancel out the one star review that doesn't belong here. You know, it would be very easy to go to every band's page that i don't like and give all their shows 1 star, but the point of the star rating isn't to see how much johnny smith likes the band, it's there so people that DO enjoy the band know which shows to download and which not a random show a bad review because you don't like the band just gives those that do enjoy the band a harder time finding good quality shows...please keep this in mind
